Teaching philosophy
A calm, child-first approach to early learning built on respect, relationship, and play.
Children do not come to us empty. They arrive full of theories, questions, and relationships. My job is to honour that richness and build learning experiences around it.
Children are capable
I begin with respect for the child. Young learners are already thinking, wondering, and making meaning. Our role is to notice and support.
Relationship comes first
Learning grows from trust. Secure relationships with teachers, parents, and peers are the foundation for every other skill.
Play is serious work
Play is not a break from learning; it is how children experiment, communicate, regulate, and think. I protect time and space for it.
Parents are partners
Families bring deep knowledge of their children. I design school-home partnerships that honour that expertise rather than replace it.
Slow down to see more
Rushing through curriculum leaves children behind. Slow observation helps us plan with intention and respond to real needs.
Culture matters
Every classroom exists in a context. Materials, language, and routines should reflect and celebrate the lives children actually live.
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
